Cotino's Public Town Center Moved to Spring. Here's Where to Try Its Tenants Before Then.

October 29, 2026

When does the public side of Cotino open? For most of the past year the answer was this fall. That's no longer true. On the current Cotino page, Storyliving by Disney says Cotino Bay Beach, Dining, Shops is "Anticipated to open Spring 2027."

For Mira Vista households who were planning on a new waterfront dinner spot this winter, that sounds like a lost season. The tenant list says otherwise. Of the 11 businesses Disney has named for the town center, six already have roots somewhere in the Coachella Valley. One is a new concept from the team behind an existing local café. The other five already run under the same name. Much of what is coming to Monterey Avenue in spring is already open on El Paseo, Palm Canyon Drive, Date Palm Drive and Highway 111.

How Fall 2026 Became Spring 2027

The fall date was official. When the Artisan Club opened in October 2025, a Storyliving by Disney release said the town center was scheduled to open to the public in fall 2026. By the time Disney announced its next group of tenants on Aug. 6, 2026, the announcement said the first phase of dining, retail and gathering spaces was "scheduled to open in spring 2027." Palm Springs Life gave the same timing in its Oct. 14 roundup of major Coachella Valley projects.

Older pages still give the earlier date. The Storyliving by Disney FAQ still says the town center is "anticipated to open in Fall 2026." The Cotino Bay page itself gives spring 2027, and that is the current official timing.

Two other things are still in progress. Day tickets for Cotino Bay Beach are planned for the public, but Disney says admission details "will be released at a later time." And according to Palm Springs Life, public access will come through a dedicated entrance on Monterey Avenue.

What Is Open at Cotino Right Now

Some of Cotino is already running, but none of it is public in the way the town center will be. The Desert Sun reported in February that Cotino Bay had opened to its first residents. The Artisan Club and its dining rooms are open, but Disney's Artisan Club page limits its voluntary membership to people who have bought a Cotino home.

So anyone outside Cotino will get in through the town center gate in spring, and not before. That makes this winter the time to get to know the tenants where they already operate.

The Roster, Sorted by Where You Can Find It Today

Disney has now named 11 businesses for the town center. The first group was Elevare, Artigiano and On the Mark Fine Foods & Provisions. The Aug. 6 announcement added six more. Since then, the Cotino Bay page has added Mila's Kitchen and Sunglass Hut under the heading "Newly Announced Locations."

The table splits the roster in two. The top six are the valley's own businesses, and you can try them this winter. The bottom five are new to the desert, and they are what will make opening day feel new.

Where to Go This Season

The Italian table. SottoSopra will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, with pastries and paninis and entrees like ossobuco and risotto giallo. It is a new concept, so its exact menu won't exist anywhere until spring. Its kitchen team already runs SottoVoce Cafe on El Paseo in Palm Desert and on North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs, and both are open now.

The after-dinner stop. Disney calls La Dolce Piccola Gelateria "A favorite in Palm Desert." The El Paseo shop sells the same homemade gelato, coffee and baked goods that will go to Cotino. It shares El Paseo with the Palm Desert SottoVoce Cafe.

The picnic market. On the Mark Fine Foods & Provisions is in downtown Palm Springs at 111 N. Palm Canyon Drive and lists daily hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Disney's description of the Cotino store matches what the market already sells: artisan goods, premium meats and cheeses, made-to-order sandwiches, organic wines and craft beers.

The errand run. It Refills lists its Palm Desert store on Highway 111 as open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and its Indio shop as open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Cotino store will carry the same kind of products: hand and body wash, toothpaste, household cleaners and laundry soap.

The morning smoothie. Big Juice currently runs locations in Cathedral City on Date Palm Drive and in La Quinta on Highway 111, with hours posted on its website.

The browse. Mojave Flea Trading Post runs a shop in Palm Springs. Disney describes the concept as part marketplace and part cultural hub, with a rotating lineup of makers and small brands from the Coachella Valley, Joshua Tree and beyond. With a rotating inventory, a winter visit shows how the shop works more than what the Cotino store will stock.

What Spring Will Add That Winter Can't Preview

The five businesses new to the desert are what give the town center something the valley doesn't already have.

  • Elevare is a brand-new concept from Oak View Group. It will serve lunch and dinner daily and brunch on weekends, from a dining room and terrace facing Cotino Bay and the San Jacinto Mountains.
  • Artigiano is a Canadian coffee brand that started in Vancouver more than 26 years ago, and Cotino will be its first U.S. location.
  • Asada Cantina + Kitchen comes from San Clemente and will be a sit-down restaurant open daily for lunch and dinner.
  • Mila's Kitchen is led by native Hawaiian Chef Charles Akau IV, and Disney's Cotino Bay page says its menu is inspired by the "Legacy of Aloha." According to KOST 103.5, the business grew from a dessert cart at Disney California Adventure into a storefront at the Brea Mall in March 2026.
  • Sunglass Hut rounds out the newest group of tenants.

Beyond the storefronts, the August announcement promises regular community events: farmers markets with Coachella Valley growers, live music, art displays and seasonal programming. It also says more tenant announcements are expected and that future phases will add more dining and retail, plus a hotel. None of those events has a date yet. If Disney names more tenants before spring, the six-of-11 split above may shift.
